Somatic Inquiry
Uncovering the Root of Suffering
Many years ago, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery driven by a deep desire to understand my true essence. This quest led me on a journey through various forms of somatic and non-dual inquiry methods, and I even developed my own practice, the Awareness Process. After many years of incorporating other practices, I found myself returning to the fundamental simplicity and directness of becoming fully aware of and embracing emotions for myself and my clients.
Embracing Presence
In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to become disconnected from our internal landscape. Many of us move through life feeling like we are separate or not enough—carrying hidden beliefs such as I’m not good enough, I’m unlovable, or there’s something wrong with me. These unconscious patterns shape our daily experiences, often manifesting as fear, anxiety, anger, resentment, or a persistent sense of dissatisfaction. They can impact our relationships, limit our potential, and leave us feeling disconnected from our true selves.
Yet, when we are willing to be fully present with our inner experience, something remarkable happens. We realize that our beliefs are just beliefs, our feelings are just feelings, and they all flow through us naturally when given the space to be acknowledged. Instead of trying to fix or suppress our innermost selves, we can cultivate love and compassion towards ourselves, which naturally extends to others.
What is Somatic Inquiry?
At the heart of my work lies what I’m now calling Somatic Inquiry, a form of self-inquiry that invites us to turn inward and confront what we’ve been avoiding. Somatic Inquiry is a deep, compassionate process of exploring the root causes of suffering—whether it’s emotional pain, physical discomfort, negative self-beliefs, or unresolved traumatic experiences. By gently turning toward our inner experience, we uncover and release the unconscious patterns that have been shaping our lives.
In a safe and supportive environment, together we will explore the roots of your pain and suffering. As your feelings are allowed to fully express themselves and feel felt, heard and seen, they can release on their own accord, bringing a sense of relief and freedom.
This process requires an openness and willingness to step into the unknown—where fears, traumas, and conditioned beliefs reside. However, when held in this safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space, true transformation becomes possible. Somatic Inquiry is not about avoiding pain, but about skillfully engaging with it in a way that leads to deep healing, self-compassion, and an embodied sense of peace.
True healing begins when we turn towards our emotions, including fear, anger, grief, sadness, loneliness, hurt, etc., allowing them to be heard and acknowledged. Just as we longed to be seen, loved, and accepted as children, our innermost feelings crave the same attention and care. As we shed old patterns and limiting beliefs, a natural state of clarity, love, and well-being emerges—allowing us to live more fully as our authentic selves.
